How to share part of a YouTube video, with a start and an end

You want to send one section, not the whole video. There are three ways to do it and only one of them stops where the moment stops.

1. The native way: a start, and no end

On the video, Share, then tick the start-time box. The link opens at that second and keeps playing to the end of the video. It is one click and it works everywhere, which is why it is still the right answer when “start about here” is all you need.

2. The embed parameters

A YouTube embed URL accepts start and end in seconds. It genuinely stops where you tell it, but it only works inside an embed on a page you control, not as a link you can send someone. It is the answer people are still given on forums, and it is the reason those threads have so many follow-up comments.

3. A link that starts and stops

This is what Loop does. Paste the video, press once where the moment begins and once where it ends, and copy the link. Whoever opens it sees that passage, repeating, and nothing else.

Which one to use

Is this allowed?

Nothing here downloads, copies or re-uploads the video. Every one of these plays the original in YouTube's own player, which is the difference between citing a video and taking it. The view counts for the person who made it, and if they remove it, it stops playing everywhere, here included.
