Terms

By using playback.tv you agree to these terms.

What Playback is

Playback lets you mark a moment in a video hosted elsewhere and share a page that plays that moment through the host’s own player. We don’t host, copy or re-stream video. Videos remain subject to the terms of the site they live on, including YouTube’s Terms of Service. By using YouTube videos through Playback, you agree to be bound by YouTube's Terms of Service.

Your account

  • You are responsible for what is published under your handle.
  • One handle per account, unless your plan includes extra handles run from the same account. You are responsible for what is published under every handle you run. An extra handle can be handed to someone else with a one-time link from Settings: once they take it over with a Google account of their own, it and everything it made are theirs, and you can no longer use it. The handle you sign in to with Google is not transferable.
  • Some handles are reserved for people who used them on the previous service and cannot be registered by anyone else.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write here: titles, takes and notes, comments, captions, the words on your boards, and your profile. You give us permission to show them wherever your work appears through Playback:

  • on playback.tv, including its search, your profile and what the people who follow you are shown;
  • in link previews: the picture and text a chat app or social site shows when someone shares a link to your work;
  • in embeds of your Playbacks and Cuts on other sites, and in the title and name we give sites that embed them;
  • in the practice sheets and files that anyone who may open a Playback or Cut can download, which include its comments;
  • in versions of your Cuts and copies of your public boards, while you allow them (both are allowed unless you turn them off). Whoever makes one starts with your words, may change them, and the copy credits yours;
  • in search engines and AI answers, once a public Playback belongs to a claimed handle.

Deleting your work takes it off Playback. It does not reach versions or copies other people have already made, or previews other apps have already stored. Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to post, and follow the community guidelines.

What we can do

We can remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms or the guidelines, and we can change or discontinue features. We’ll try to give notice of changes that materially affect you.

No warranty

Playback is provided as is. A Playback stops working if its source video is removed or made unavailable, and we can’t prevent that.
