How to loop part of a YouTube video

YouTube can loop an entire video, but its own Loop control cannot repeat just one section of it. To loop part of a YouTube video you set a start point and an end point around the passage you want. That is an A-B loop: A is the start, B is the end, and only what sits between them plays, over and over.

In one breath: open Loop, paste the YouTube link, press Start loop where the section begins and End loop where it ends. That passage repeats on its own from then on. No account, no extension, nothing downloaded.

Can YouTube loop only part of a video?

No. Right-click the player and there is a Loop option, and it repeats the whole video from the beginning. That is genuinely useful for a track you want on in the background, and useless for the four seconds you are trying to learn, because you have to sit through everything else to come back around. Repeating one section needs two points, and YouTube's own control holds neither.

How to loop a specific section of a YouTube video

1. 1Paste the YouTube link. Open Loop, paste, and the video opens already repeating.
2. 2Set the start point. Play to where the passage begins and press Start loop.
3. 3Set the end point. Play to where it ends and press End loop, and that section starts repeating on its own.
4. 4Fine-tune and share. Drag either red handle to move an edge, then copy the link: the same loop opens for whoever you send it to, at the same speed, with your note if you left one.

How to fine-tune the start and end points

Two things help more than anything else. The arrow keys move a whole second, and Shift with an arrow moves a tenth, which is usually the difference between a loop that feels musical and one that stutters. And Z zooms the bar in around the loop, so a four-second passage inside a forty-minute video is not two pixels wide.

One honest limitation: a seek lands on the nearest keyframe, so a start can sit a fraction of a second from where you set it. For a bar of music or a rally it never matters. For a single frame it does. If the passage is moving too fast to place an edge at all, slow down part of a YouTube video first and set the points at half speed.

1. 1L starts the loop and ends it. I and O set each point on its own.
2. 2Space pauses, R restarts the loop from the top.
3. 3S cycles slow motion, and the square brackets change the speed by 0.05 at a time.
4. 4Z zooms the bar, M mirrors the picture, N opens the note.

Can you loop part of a YouTube video without an extension?

Yes. Loop runs in the browser tab you already have open, so there is nothing to install and no permission to grant a piece of software that can read every page you visit. Nothing is downloaded either: the video plays from YouTube, in YouTube's own player, and what we add is where it starts and where it goes back to.

Can I share an A-B loop?

Yes, and that is the part most loopers have no answer for. The two points live in the link itself, along with the speed, the mirror and any note you left. Whoever opens it lands on the same passage, already repeating, instead of being told a pair of timestamps and asked to find them.

Who uses section looping

The job is the same wherever it turns up: one short passage, over and over, until it stops being difficult.

• Musicians→Four bars at half speed, the same riff until the fingers learn it.
• Language learners→One sentence on repeat until the sounds separate into words.
• Dancers→A single move, mirrored, so you can copy it facing the screen.
• Sports viewers→One play, slowed right down, watched until you can see what happened.

If what you want is to explain the passage rather than drill it, share a specific video moment with a note instead: the same start and end, plus a title, what you want noticed, and comments pinned to the exact frame they are about. Looping repeats a moment; a Playback says something about it.
