How to combine moments from several YouTube videos into one link
A playlist chains whole videos. An editor makes you download, cut and re-upload someone else's work. There is a third way, and it is the thing this site was built for.
Why the usual answers do not work
Ask this anywhere and you get two answers. Make a playlist, which plays whole videos start to finish and cannot trim. Or download the videos, cut them in an editor and upload the result, which takes the view away from the people who made them, produces a file you now have to host, and is against YouTube's terms.
Neither does the actual job, which is usually small: three moments, from three different videos, in an order that makes a point.
Doing it with a Cut
- 1Open Cut and paste the first YouTube link.
- 2Press Start here where the first moment begins, then Add to Cut where it ends.
- 3Press Add a video in the Sources row and paste a link to a completely different video, from any channel. Take a moment out of that one the same way.
- 4Drag the parts into the order you want. Give each one a note if it needs one, and set its own speed or volume.
- 5Name it and publish. One link plays all of them, in your order.

Different videos, and different channels
This is the part worth being specific about, because most tools that claim it cannot do it. A Cut holds up to twelve moments drawn from as many as six different videos, and those videos can come from six unrelated channels. Four pundits contradicting each other. The same phrase from five speakers. Three coaches teaching one technique three ways.
Nothing is downloaded, re-encoded or re-hosted at any point. Each moment plays from its own video in YouTube's own player, so every view still counts for whoever made it, and the Cut is a list of pointers rather than a copy.
Between two moments from different videos there is a short handoff while the next player takes over. We have measured it at roughly half a second to a second. It is a real seam and we would rather name it than pretend it is not there.
