Questions

How is the time at a speed worked out?

Length divided by speed. A 45-minute video at 1.5x takes 30 minutes and saves 15. At 0.75x it takes 60 minutes. Breaks and rewinds are not counted.

Why does the speed I need round up?

So that it fits. If 1.333x would finish exactly on time, the page says 1.34x, because 1.33x would run a few seconds over. The line under it gives the nearest speed on YouTube's standard menu, which goes in steps of 0.25x.

Does this work for videos that are not on YouTube?

Yes. It is arithmetic on the lengths you type and asks nothing of any video site, so it works for a lecture, a podcast or a file on your computer. The speeds your player offers are up to the player.

Does a faster speed play the video here?

No. This page plays nothing and changes no video. It tells you how long something takes, and you set the speed in whatever player you use.
